Maureen Joan Houghtaling, 84, of Ravine St, Kingston died Thursday, August 17th, 2017 at home.

She was born in Kingston, NY on May 9, 1933, a daughter of the late Eleanor (Van Nostrand) Schipp.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed in her earlier years as a dental assistant for Dr. Dean in Kingston. She then worked in the Ulster County Tourism booth, and in the commissary of the Ulster County Jail. She served as secretary for former city of Kingston Mayor Peter Mancuso, and was a secretary at Ulster County Community College, Stone Ridge.

Maureen enjoyed reading and cooking, and her cats, Tiger and Garfield.

She is survived by her four children, John Houghtaling, and his companion Sondra, Gary Houghtaling, Kim Turck, and her husband Anthony, and Kevin Houghtaling, all of Kingston, and three grandchildren, Amanda Houghtaling of Hanover, PA, and Kyle and Chris Turck, both of Kingston.

In addition to her mother, she is predeceased by her sister, Veronica "Ronnie" Schipp, and dear friend, Francis J. Donnelly, Sr.

The family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, with the care and cremation arrangements for Maureen.

In following Maureen's wishes, there are no calling hours, cremation held at Wiltwyck Crematory and inurnment will be private.
