Robert W. Jordan, 82, of Palm City, Florida, formerly of Ulster Park and Port Ewen, passed away Sunday morning, August 14th, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Bob was born in NYC, New York on September 21st, 1933, a son of George Jordan and Florence Ryan.
Bob proudly served his country as a US Marine during the Korean war, served as a deputy sheriff under Sheriff William Martin, retired as Ulster County's Commissioner of Jurors after 34 years, and was Esopus Town Justice for 32 years.
He was a life member of the Port Ewen Fire Department where he also served in the capacity of Fire Commissioner, member of the Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386, Town of Esopus American Legion Post 1298, and the Esopus Lions Club.
Bob was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was widely known for his yard "saling".
Bob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patricia Jordan, one daughter, Susan Whittaker, and her husband Rodney, of Ulster Park, three sons Michael Jordan of Kingston, Scott Newman of Palm City, Michael Newman, and his wife Tammy, of Clayton. NC, one sister, Flo Gressing of Edison, NJ, and twin-brother, George Jordan, of Stewart, Florida, grandchildren, Christopher (Allyson) and Jeffrey (Kelly) Whittaker, Kim, Libby and Michaela Jordan, Triston, Taylor and Nicholas Newman, and five great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He is predeceased by brother-in-law, Bill Gressing.
The family has entrusted the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, with the care and funeral arrangements for Bob.
In following Bob's wishes, funeral services and cremation at Wiltwyck Crematory were private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Bob's memory to either the Port Ewen Fire Department or Town of Esopus American Legion.
