John Gerard  Brandow Sr.
John G. Brandow Sr, 88, of Delaware, Kingston, formerly of Van Buren St, passed away on Friday morning, August 12th, 2016 at the home of his daughter Michele, while she, and his granddaughter Leia and niece Lisa, were by his bedside.

John was born in Kingston, NY on April 15th, 1928, a son of the late William and Mary (Long) Brandow.

He joined the US Navy in 1946 and served 4 years and was employed as a cleaner with the Kingston City School District. In his younger year, John enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to travel to many different places over the years, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Michele VanKleeck of Kingston, with whom he lived with since 2010, one son, John G. Brandow, Jr, and his wife Betty, of Miami, Fla, grandchildren, Leia VanKleeck, Mark VanKleeck, Jr., and his wife Kendra, of Colorado, Emma and Shannon Brandow, and great-grandchildren, Carter and Emma Della. He is also survived by his buddy Anthony Ligouri, his beloved friend, Rose Parise, and many nieces, nephews, friends and family.

He is predeceased by his wife, Emma Della (Banks) Brandow who died in 1995, two sisters, Dorothy Brandow and Helen Mayer, and a brother Frederick (Fred) Brandow, and son-in-law, Mark VanKleeck, Sr.

John's family will receive friends at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus, on Monday, from 3 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.

The funeral procession will form 9:00 am, Tuesday at the funeral home, thence to St. Mary's RC Church, Kingston, where The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am.

Burial with military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
