Obituary for Stephen Ruschak

Stephen  Ruschak
Stephen Ruschak, 85, of Commons Lane, Saugerties, formerly of Ulster Park, went to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday morning, August 12, 2016 at HealthAlliance Hospital.

Stephen was born in NYC March 18th, 1931, a son of the late Basilius and Bertha (Panula) Ruschak.

A graduate of the RCA Institute, he proudly served his country as a US Marines during the Korean War. He was employed as a Senior Associate Engineer for IBM for 31 years, where he was also a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a faithful member of the Reformed Church of the Comforter, and served many capacities. He loved to garden, fish, travel and walk by the beaches.

In 1956, he married the love of his life, June Palen, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Stephen W. Ruschak, and his wife Kim (Nicolosi), of Illinois, and one daughter, Judy L. Genther, and her husband Joseph, of West Hurley, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Several nieces, one nephew, and many dear friends also survive.

He is predeceased by his sister, Irene Genther.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway Ulster Park, Town of Esopus.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Monday, August 15th, at the funeral home, Rev. Dr. David Brechter, celebrant. Burial with full military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard will follow at Montrepose Cemetery.
